My company has been hanging there for more than 16 years. It has seen some of the most difficult times. I lost many important managers, cash shortage has been catastrophic. We have thrice escaped going bankrupt. And through all the disasters we have emerged an organization that is highly productive, innovative, resilient & strong.

When difficulties strike, the tendency of the mind is to extrapolate them to the ultimate disaster. The fear created can sometimes make one put is a lot to survive. The problem is that decisions taken out fear can seldom take you beyond survival. Fear is natural but obsessive fear does not help. The fear to avoid coming in front of a running car is real but fear to see company closing down with two-quarters of negative result is unreal. Many ask me “when is it time to hang your boots when things are not going well. My answer is to hard review your business on some key parameters: your larger strengths, growth of the domain you are operating in, your competitive advantages, reality of your vision etc. If you largely pass this litmus test, problems will pass.
