All entrepreneurs suffer from the same illusion, “they are what they think they are”. As we all know our understanding of us is largely dependent on how we interpret ourselves. Unfortunately, life offers us with very little opportunity to see ourselves in a true mirror. While this may still work for people in general work life, as an entrepreneur, it is one of the greatest liability to carry.

I suggest a simple method to get to the bottom of what others perceive of us against what we think we are. Get hold of 5 people from your life, take a notepad, request for 30 minutes of their separately & ask the following questions. Ensure you take extensive notes. One rule: do not say anything while they speak!

Questions:
1. What are my strengths?
2. What are my weaknesses?
3. What does everybody know about me?
4. What can people count on me for?
5. What can people never count on me for?

Trust me you are going to discover one of the greatest treasures for your future. As an entrepreneur, this knowledge will do wonders to you.

I learnt this technique while participating in a Landmark Education Program, one of the most enriching programs I attended in my life at Landmark Worldwide. The technique has helped one immensely to recognize my liability areas & improve upon them.
